It didn't matter that he was alone, as usual, because he liked it that way. But for some reason Fenn felt more alone than usual, for a few days the scent of a vixen had been around him as he had wandered through the forests, and he knew that she was following him, picking his kills after he had finished with them. He didn't mind, there was something oddly reasuring in knowing that she was there, though he wasn't sure why this was he accepted the feeling as he accepted everything else. His pads shifted slowly over the undergrowth and he couldn't help but feel concsious of the lack of vixen scent, he wasn't about to let it bother him, but he doubted that she would have left if there wasn't something wrong, and indeed the forest did feel unearhtly still around him.
Fenn would have thought on it longer, if a rabbit had not darted in front of him at that very moment. Instinct to hunt and kill thrilled through his body and hunger knawed at his stomach, he ignored the indignified hoot of a barn owl above him and darted after the small beast. His paws burned with every stride, excitment thrilled through his every msucle and drove him on in a high speed pursuit. His eyes narrowed on his quarry as the distance between them closed, one final leap and his front paw made contact, the rabbit's balance was knocked and it collided with the ground, stumbling. Before the poor creature could even gain it's bearings Fenn was on it, the emotionless cruetly of the wolf in him forced jaws to close around the creature and put an end to the frantic struggling.
Scents erupted into the air, the rich metalic smell of the blood caught in his nose and flooded his tongue in a warm fountain of blood tasting strength. His eyes closed as he settled himself down on the earth, ignoring the blood that mangled itself into his fur and focusing on the feast at his paws.
